| Why Register? |
In order to fully utilize the OUInsider forums, we require that you Register for a free 'Guest Account,' which will allow you to:
|
| What does 'Member' Mean? / What is a 'Subscription'? |
| At some point in time you may wish to get access to all of OU Insider
by becoming an OU Insider 'Member' by subscribing. While all but two of our forums are free, we obviously must cover our costs -- and we do that by subscription revenue. These subscriptions allow us to stream to Sooner fans world-wide 24/7. For those who choose to subscribe, we produce detailed information and special interviews and reports on Sooner sports and OU recruiting; also included is automatic access to all of ESPN Insider (all teams - all sports), and a subscription to ESPN the Magazine. 'Members' also get first opportunity at our OU Insider events, and first priority on all OU Insider VIP Bowl trips. Subscriptions are $ 8.95 per month, (one time annual billing), or $ 9.95 if you prefer to be charged monthly. Both options are identical in benefits, and no preference is given one over the other. * Entering your e-Mail address will not leave you open to 'spam', as you can choose to hide your address. Your privacy is important to us and we never sell or allow any user information to be used by anyone else. |
| What are the various thread display options? |
When viewing a thread, you will be able to view the thread from a choice of four modes, or 'Display Options.'
|
| Iforgot my password, what can I do? |
| If you forget your password, you can click on the 'Forgotten Your Password' link on any page that requires you to fill in your password. This will bring up a Lost Password Recovery Form. Just enter your registered e-Mail address, and a password reset message will be sent there immeadiately. NOTE: This is the primary reason we ask for your e-Mail address on Registration. If you did not provide a correct or updated address, this process will have to be processed by hand and could take several days, as users private information is not stored at OU Insider offices. |
| Can I edit my own posts? |
If you have registered, you will be able to edit and delete your posts. Note that the administrator can disable this ability as he desires. Your ability to edit your posts may also be time-limited, depending on how the administrator has set up the forum. To edit or delete your posts, click the After you have made your modifications, a note may appear, which notifies other users that you have edited your post. Administrators and moderators may also edit your messages but this note may not appear when they do so. |
| How can I Change the Information in My Profile? |
| Because our staff is not allowed access to your password, or any of your personal information, we can not up-date any of the information in your profile. But you can, and it's fairly quick and easy. Your e-Mail address should be kept current in case you contact us through this site asking for assistance. You can alter anything in your profile, except your username. Once you have registered your username, it becomes yours for life. In extreme circumstances, OU Insider 'Members' may request that we change your user name at no charge, but because it is an involved process for Non Members the change carries a fee of $ 25.00, if we are successful. Edit your profile here. |
| How Do I search for a Specific Subject or Post? |
You can search for posts based on username, word(s) in the post -- or just in the subject, by date, and restrict your search to any one particular forum or multiple forums. To access the search feature, click on the "Search" link at the top of most pages. You will not be allowed to search through any of the Member forums
unless you are a subscriber. (And obviously, we'd like for you to
join us and enjoy the information contained on those forums as well). |
| What Are Moderators? |
Moderators oversee specific forums on OU Insider,
and a few several forums. They have the ability to edit and
delete posts, move threads, and perform other functions that make OU Insider forums among the most popular on the internet. Moderators are chosen by the Editor
and / or Publisher, and work under the direction of the Editor.
Becoming a moderator for a specific forum is usually rewarded to long
time users who are particularly helpful (and knowledgeable), and are
dedicated to keeping the forums enjoyable and safe for everyone to use. If you have a long (and stable), history with OU Insider and would like to be considered for the next opening, e-Mail our Editor. |
| Does OU Insider use cookies? |
| Yes, but their use is optional. 'Cookies' on OU Insider simply help you get around the site faster, and are used to enable functions such as showing whether or not a thread or forum you are viewing has new posts since your last visit, or to automatically log you back in when you return to the site after being away for a while. When you Register, you will be given the option to 'Automatically login' when you return to the site. This will save your username and password in a 'cookie,' stored on your computer. If you do not check the 'Auto LogIn,' we clear them as you exit. Unlike most sites, we do not collect cookies for 'permission based marketing' or give any personal information to anyone. Our advertisers do not have any access to your information or 'cookies.' We will not sell any ad to any advertiser requesting cookies or tracking information. |
| How do I clear my cookies? |
| You may clear all your cookies by clicking here. If you return to the OU Insider Index page via the link provided and you are still logged in, you may have to remove your cookies manually. In Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP:

| Why have some of the words in my post been blanked? |
OU Insider does not allow profanity, and some words have obviously been censored by the site management. If your posts contain any censored words, they will be blanked-out like this: *****. The same words are censored for all
users, and censoring is done by a computer simply searching and
replacing words. It is in no way 'intelligent'. We ask that you not use profanity or attempt to 'type around' or 'mis-spell' obvious words, so that Sooners of all ages can enjoy the site. |
