BREAKING: 2028 Four-Star TE Connor Arant Commits to Oklahoma

Oklahoma has landed one of the state’s top young prospects—and a player with the versatility to help the Sooners in several ways.

Four-star Bixby tight end Connor Arant announced his commitment to OU on Wednesday, giving the Sooners a major in-state addition to their 2028 recruiting class.

The 6-foot-5, 225-pound Arant is ranked No. 219 nationally and No. 12 among tight ends by 247Sports. The Rivals Industry Ranking lists him as the No. 315 overall prospect, No. 15 tight end and No. 3 player in Oklahoma. He chose the Sooners from an offer list that included Alabama, Ohio State, Tennessee, Nebraska and Texas Tech.

So, what is Oklahoma getting?

First, the Sooners are adding a big, athletic and genuinely versatile football player. Arant contributed on both sides of the ball during Bixby’s 2025 Class 6A-I state championship season, catching seven passes for 129 yards and six touchdowns while recording 23 tackles, three tackles for loss, two sacks and a forced fumble.

Those receiving numbers also show how dangerous he can be near the goal line: six of Arant’s seven receptions ended in touchdowns.

Arant has continued making an impact defensively this fall, recording three sacks, five quarterback hurries and three passes defended through his first three games, according to MaxPreps.

His long-term future at Oklahoma is expected to be at tight end, where his frame, physicality and multi-sport background give the Sooners plenty to develop. Arant already possesses the size to work as an attached blocker, but he is athletic enough to move around the formation and create mismatches in the passing game.

He also plays baseball and wrestles, further demonstrating the coordination, balance and toughness that translate particularly well to tight end.

Beyond the on-field traits, this is another important in-state win for Oklahoma. Arant plays for one of the premier programs in the state, and keeping one of Oklahoma’s highest-rated 2028 prospects home gives the Sooners an early building block with strong local connections.

There is still considerable development ahead for every 2028 prospect, but Arant already provides Oklahoma with an intriguing combination of size, athletic ability, physicality and positional versatility.

The Sooners are getting a championship-tested tight end whose ceiling may be just as impressive as what he already brings to the field.

Plus, when you add the fact Jason Witten has brought in — or already had committed — transfers Rocky Beers (who leads OU in receiving yards through two games), Jack Van Dorselaer and Hayden Hansen, as well as five-star Seneca Driver in 2027 class and now four-star Connor Arant in 2028, you can see that OU and Witten are starting to build a nice, solid TE legacy in Norman.

Now we will see who all will follow the Arant in 2028 as the class continues to have a chance to be special.
