Drumm’s Take: Oklahoma’s Offense Seems to Be Getting Better. Now Put the Points on the Board

STARKVILLE, Miss. — I came away from Oklahoma’s 23–15 win at Mississippi State more encouraged about this offense than the final score probably suggests.

I also came away thinking the Sooners made that game a lot harder than it needed to be.…

OUInsider Injury Intel: Is OU Finally Getting Healthier? Fasusi’s Return Outlook, Key Player Updates & Projected Starting OL vs. Mississippi State

As we reported after the Kentucky game on Saturday, again on Monday and then Tuesday on the Midweek Wrap-Up Pod, the expectation is that LT Michael Fasusi will be back this week for the Sooners. Before the Texas game, we also hinted that this was the doctors’ targeted timeline. It really does look like things are starting to come to fruition—unless a major setback takes place this week in practice.

So, with that said, where do things stand with those on Wednesday’s SEC Availability Report? Here are a few updates on those players:…

OUInsider Intel: OL Help POTENTIALLY On the Way? Believe It When You See It? Mississippi State QB Buzz + Driver & Gash Updates

First, as I noted in the midweek wrap-up earlier this week and discussed in the postgame rapid reaction, there is still a sense that LT Michael Fasusi is trending toward POTENTIALLY being available this week. I know, I know… I am still a “believe it when I see it” type of person as well. However, the confidence is a bit different this week. Just have to see if that translates to the former five-star getting back out there and helping OU this week.

Similarly, I have been told that OG Heath Ozaeta is trending pretty well for OU as well. Now, both players have to keep that up to be available, but the signs early this week were that things were looking better for both. We will have a better sense of where the medical staff truly sees them when the SEC Availability Report comes out tonight at 7:10 p.m.…

Drumm’s Take: OU Wasted the Texas Momentum. The Bill for Offensive Moneyball Is Due

Injuries explain much of the struggle. Turnovers, repeated roster resets and insufficient ready depth explain why Oklahoma has so little room to survive them.

OUInsider Deep Dive: Who’s to Blame for Oklahoma’s Injury Woes? Venables Defends His Practice Approach

With SEC Availability Report dropping tonight for Kentucky game, along with Sooners head coach Brent Venables talking about the mounting questions of Oklahoma’s practice habits, OUInsider is doing a deep-dive into the history of the Sooners’ injury history.

Oklahoma’s injury questions did not start with Michael Fasusi’s shoulder. They did not start with David Stone getting banged up before Georgia, either.…

‘Just About Ready’: Michael Fasusi Nears a Return While Still Leading Oklahoma

Michael Fasusi is getting closer. Brent Venables stopped short of guaranteeing — though if I am an OU fan I only hold out the faintest of hope so not to be left disappointed — a return against Kentucky, but his Tuesday update gave Oklahoma reason to believe another important player could be back soon.

“He’s just about ready,” Venables said. “He’s got to clear another hurdle or so here in the next few days to get him back going.”…

John Mateer knows what beating Texas can give Oklahoma. He also knows the Sooners can waste it.

“It can obviously build momentum,” Mateer said Monday. “But it can also get you trapped.”

That is the question now. Oklahoma earned its celebration in Dallas. The work required to make that win more than the season’s best moment has already started.…
